Saif Ali Khan is currently a hot topic as people cannot stop talking about his excellent performance in Netflix’s first original Indian series, Sacred Games.Â
Now, according to media reports, Saif is being considered for the role of an antagonist in the movie.
The sources told the leading daily, “the Taanaji team believes that Saif will make for an interesting choice to play Udaybhan Rathod, the Rajput officer and fort-keeper appointed by Jai Singh, chief of the Moghul army under Aurangzeb.
The film recounts the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670, which was fought between Tanaji Malusare, a commander in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s army, and Udaybhan. The former sacrificed his life to recapture Sinhagad Fort from the Moghuls.
Taanaji will star Ajay Devgn in the titular role and will be directed by Om Raut.
Interestingly, Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan were last seen together in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Omkara (2006), which was an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Othello. It will be cool to watch the two of them together again.

The adaptation of the 2006 Vikram Chandra novel of the same name, which has been directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap, saw Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui moving away from the big screen and embracing the digital space.
It also stars Radhika Apte in the lead role.
