Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan’s pairing has always been popular. Their film Tiger Zinda Hai which was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar tasted success at the box-office last year.
Now, it has been confirmed that Kaif will be the female lead in Zafar’s Bharat, replacing Priyanka Chopra who suddenly opted out of the project last week.
Confirming the news with a Mumbai-based tabloid, “I am extremely excited to work with Katrina and Salman again. We have had exciting collaborations in the past. Katrina got on board in the Nick of time for this project.”
Meanwhile, Priyanka’s walkout from the film so abruptly sparked various engagement to Nick Jonas speculations which were further intensified when Ali tweeted, “Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special, she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her … Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life.”
Katrina will commence shooting for Bharat from September onwards as she is completing her pending work commitments as of now. Salman began shooting for Bharat, two weeks ago and first shot for a circus sequence.
Bharat is inspired by the Korean film, Ode to My Father (2014) and also stars Jackie Shroff, Tabu, Disha Patani, Sunil Grover and Nora Fatehi in pivotal roles.
Bharat is slated for an Eid 2019 release.
