Neha Kakkar is a singer like no other and What really makes her stand out from the crowd is her distinct and powerful voice.
Regardless of how a composition is, Neha’s voice uplifts/enhances the atmosphere of a song.
Her latest track ‘Dilbar’ from Satyameva Jayate has rocked the charts and has even hit first place on the Global YouTube Charts, leaving behind songs like Girls Like You by Maroon 5 and X by Nicki Minaj.
In a special tribute to the sensational Bollywood singer, Filme Shilmy presents a list of a few amazing Bollywood songs and covers by Neha, which you MUST listen to!
Second Hand Jawaani – Cocktail (2012)
Planet Bollywood says: “Neha Kakkar and Nakkash Aziz are supporting singers but do full justice to their selection.”
But though Neha is a supporting singer, she absolutely rocks this Pritam number – even more so as she commences this groovy song with the words “Daayein Lage Kabhi Baayein Lage, Nainon Ki Bullet Dil De Dhaayn Lage.”
Plus, her voice weaves well with Miss Pooja’s vocals.
This peppy song is picturised on the lead trio of Cocktail consisting of Saif Ali Khan, Diana Penty and Deepika Padukone.
The chorus lines are “Teri End Jawaani, Teri Ban Jawaani, Nahin Chahiye Mujhko Teri Second Hand Jawaani” signifying how the main female protagonists are refusing the advances of the hero. Definitely a catchy and party favourite!
Sunny Sunny – Yaariyan (2014)
“Beach, sun & sand and friends, the perfect setting for an all-out youthful, zesty and highly rhythmic celebration/party number, the hip-hop ‘Sunny Sunny‘ rendered superbly by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Neha Kakkar. The buddy bonhomie track will surely catch on like fire.” GlamSham predicted this and truly the track has become a rage!
“Aaj Blue Hai Paani Paani Paani, Aur Din Hai Sunny Sunny Sunny” we all know the lyrics of this extremely popular dance number – which is still a club favourite.
We see cast members of Yaariyan grooving in a pool and seaside, so not only does this video offer some eye-candy, but the upbeat tone of the song will just make you want to grab your party shoes and pop to a beach party.
Neha Kakkar’s energetic vocals combined with Yo Yo Honey Singh’s rapping is a killer combo!
Soch Na Sake (Selfie video cover) – Airlift (2016)
‘Soch Na Sake’ is a touching romantic song which is originally sung by Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar.
But in her selfie video cover, Neha croons both the male and female vocals and it is divine, to say the least.
The beauty about Neha’s voice is that you feel the love and conviction. She does not solely sing a song but she feels the sentiments conveyed within a track.
Maahi Ve – Wajah Tum Ho (2016)
Throughout Neha’s career, she has sung several party songs many of which have become raging sensations. However, ‘Maahi Ve’ takes a break from the usual peppy dance numbers.
Plus, this song itself is a remix of the super-hit song from Kaante, which is crooned by Richa Sharma. The original track is intense, plus Richa’s vocals are par excellence.
Neha’s version has a more upbeat tone to it and Neha’s voice gives a completely different feel to the song. She sings in a variety of pitches, making the song her own.
If you love the normal version, try listening to acoustic adaptation – this will spellbind you on another level!
Tu Kitni Acchi Hai (Cover)
“Tu Kitni Acchi Hai, Tu Kitni Bholi Hai. Pyaari Pyaari Hai, Oh Maa…” This 1968 song from Sanjeev Kumar’s Raja Aur Runk is a classic poignant number which never fails to bring a tear to the eye.
Neha Kakkar sings this as an ode on mother’s day and from the first few lines, tears start rolling down the cheek.
The number of times I wept hearing this song because of the way Neha sings. You can feel that love and affection which she has for her mother.
The part which really gets to me is when she sings “Maa Bachcho Ki”. Here, she sings in a high tone so effortlessly.
Naina – Dangal (2016): Zee Special Cover
To sing an exceptional Arijit Singh song that too for a blockbuster movie like Dangal is a challenging task.
This song revolves around the theme of broken dreams and how the eyes once visualised this dream. The composer of the song is Pritam.
Neha sings the song with such thehrav. You can feel the pain and sincerity in her voice and that is what really gives goosebumps.
Cheez Badi – Machine (2017)
Many of us 90s kids have grown up listening to the ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ song which originally features Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon.
Decades later, Tanishk Bagchi adds an EDM and dubstep twist to this classic catchy Bollywood number. This time, it is picturised on Kiara Advani and Mustafa Burmawalla.
In this track, Neha’s tone is low – giving the revised song a very seductive twist, especially when she croons the “Ankhiyaan Farebi, Shaitaani Hai” line.
The song is so popular that it stands as one of the most-played videos on YouTube, grossing over 350 million views!

Mile Ho Tum (Reprise) – Fever (2017)
What Bollywood is missing nowadays, in my opinion, is meaningful romantic songs. But ‘Mile Ho Tum’ is one of those rare gems which reinforces the true essence of love.
The Chorus goes as “Mile Ho Tum Hum Ko, Bade Naseebo Se. Churaaya Hai Maine, Kismat Ki Lakeeron Se” conveys the deep love a person has for their beloved.
These are definitely poignant lyrics which is crooned with such conviction – especially by Neha.
Plus, the song has received a staggering amount of over 400 Million views on YouTube. This is a testament to how poignant and brilliant of a song this is!
Aashiq Banaya Aapne – Hate Story 4 (2018)
I never thought this Himesh Reshammiya song could’ve been remixed, that too in the voice of Neha Kakkar. But my goodness, this rendition is mesmerising and addictive.
Unlike before, we hear Neha singing in quite a low-tone, giving the song a more seductive feel. I also feel this gives a different shape to the original track and it works very well.
We also hear Himesh’s original vocals in the song which contrasts wholly to Neha’s tone. Tanishk Bagchi does a tremendous job at remixing this legendary song.
Dilbar – Satyameva Jayate (2018)
“Hosh Na Khabar Hai, Kya Deewanapan Hai. Tumse Milne Ke Baad Dilbar…” As mentioned in the introduction, ‘Dilbar’ has hit number one on global YouTube charts and for good reason.
One cannot forget the original Nadeem-Shravan track from Sirf Tum which had vocals by Alka Yagnik and exhibited Sushmita Sen grooving on high buildings for her beloved.
I must say, Nora Fatehi does full justice to this and gives the song a different almost Moroccan flavour!
Alongside Neha, Dhvani Bhanushali’s singing and Ikka’s rap blend very well into this recreation.
The beauty of this new version of ‘Dilbar’ is that it does not destroy or taint the original version. It maintains that innocence and simplicity yet it encompasses a different flavour.
On the whole, Neha Kakkar is a supremely talented artist who can sing any style of a song with such flair and ease.
Perhaps the reason why she is an amazing singer is due to the fact she resonates with every track and gives her utmost best when singing.
Even in remixes like ‘Dilbar’, she adds her a Tadka and makes the song her own, giving the track a completely new identity.
We at Filme Shilmy hope that Neha continues to top the charts with her powerful and heartfelt vocals!
