Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2: Why We’re Excited For It!

Since the announcement of Ekta Kapoor’s Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 (KZK 2)there has been an air of nostalgia.

The names Mr Bajaj, Prerna and Anurag which seemed like a distant memory, came flooding back and so did many moments from the series.

Hearing the lyrics “Chaahat Ke Safar Mein, Dilon Hosle Dekho” in the title song is a reminder of the good old days for Hindi series.

It has been just over 10 years since the first series concluded.

Since KZK 2 hits our television screens on September 25, Filme Shilmy takes a look at why it is exciting to see this reboot on Indian television!

Shah Rukh Khan introduces the Main Protagonists!

In the promo, Shah Rukh is seen at a picturesque, CGI railway station as he uses the example of railway tracks to talk about Anurag and Prerna’s love story.

“Even looked at rail tracks closely? They share a peculiar bond.

They run together for miles but never become one,” he says as the iconic red dupatta comes flying towards him.

We then get the first good look at our new Anurag and Prerna: actors Parth Samthaan and Erica Fernandes.

“Anurag and Prerna share a similar story. One is the earth while the other is the sky. Together since forever but a distance still separates them.

In the journey of love, how many tests will they have to go through,” Shah Rukh says in the promo.

Now, if the king of love himself has introduced this, we are sure the Mohabbat will be rock-solid in the serial!

Presenting: Parth Samthaan as Anurag & Erica Fernandes as Prerna

The original pairing of Cezzane Khan and Shweta Tiwari as the star-crossed lovers Anurag Basu and Prerna Sharma is iconic.

Naturally, to fit into those shoes would be difficult due to mass expectations attached to the characters.

But we think Erica and Parth are perfect for the roles.

Erica played a mature character in the Sony TV series Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke. Bearing this in mind, she is ideal for Prerna.

This is because Prerna handled every trial and tribulation with dignity and grace. I’m certain Erica Fernandes will portray the role well.

As for Parth Samthaan, we saw him as the bad-turned-good boy in MTV’s Kaisi Hai Yaarian.

This role too was charming and enamouring. It will be interesting to see how he brings that charisma to the character of Anurag.

Initially, there were reports that Kasam fame actor Ssharad Malhotra will portray this role. He too would’ve been an ideal candidate, we think.

Presently, it is not known who will essay Mr Bajaj. Maybe someone slightly elder and maturer would be the perfect fit. But who?

Sahil Anand, Pooja Banerjee & Shubhaavi Choksey are part of the Basu family

Those who vividly remember the original show will recollect that it was not just about Anurag and Prerna.

The drama was created a lot by the supporting cast – including Anurag Basu’s family. Remember Komolika, Aparna and Sampada?

Well, it seems like some of the cast of the Basu family has been confirmed.

As to who will play Nivedita Basu – Anurag’s sister, this is Dil Hi Toh Hai fame – Pooja Banerjee.

Originally, Nivedita’s role was essayed by Poonam Narula, who was later replaced by Smita Bansal.

Playing Nivedita’s husband will be Sahil Anand, who is recognised for his role as Jeet in Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year.

We wonder whether the character will offer comic relief or exude grey shades.

Kannu Gill originally portrayed Anurag’s mother. But now, it is Shubhavi Choksey (last seen in Dhadak) who will step into the shoes of the mother.

A source close to IWMBuzz revealed, “Shubhavi is all set to return to the Balaji family with yet another prized role.

She will be seen playing the mother of Anurag, which will be a very powerful role.”

It will be interesting to see who else will be featured as part of the ensemble cast.

Komolika is Back!

Komolika is hands down, one of the most infamous yet cheeky vamps ever in Indian television history.

Again, to fill in such a big role that was established by Urvashi Dholakia is a matter of great responsibility.

For quite some time now, there have been several speculations as to whether Hina Khan or Krystle D’Souza will undertake this character.

A few hints have been dropped that a big television actress but as of now, there have been no confirmations as to whom will play the vamp.

Perhaps Ekta Kapoor’s plan is to surprise us all!

On the whole, there are some high expectations attached to KZK 2.

Uniting a newish cast and novel set-up, this could be a breath of fresh air for Star TV and a nostalgic treat.
