Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has been accused by a flight attendant of sexually harassing her in 1998. She narrated the details through a post on social media.
The flight attendant shared that Abhijeet was a friend of her roommate.
She shared that Abhijeet Bhattacharya twisted her arms, pulled her towards him and screamed in her ear, almost kissing and nibbling her at a hotel in Kolkata.
In light of the #MeToo campaign many women and men are coming forward and are naming and shaming the accused.
Indian Express got in touch with the singer with regards to the allegations levelled against him. He dismissed the allegations and said that he wasn’t even born 20-years-ago.
Abhijeet has been earlier accused by many women of harassment. In the interaction with the newspaper, he said that people coming out now with their stories seek attention.
He said, “Somebody told me over the call. I was not born at that time. I have never gone to pubs in my life. You’ll never find me at any page 3 or filmy parties.
My name sells. If someone’s benefiting from it, good. Sometimes earning their bread and butter with my name, it is fine.”
He said that he never attends Page 3 parties and that his name sells and garners attention. “I don’t know against whom I should take action. Why should I give attention to that person?
You are giving it importance not me. Most of the people who are coming out right now are dirty, ugly people. Koi mota hai koi patla hai. No one deserves (the attention).
Just to grab some attention they are coming out. Most of the fat and ugly girls are blaming and I wasn’t born at that time,” he added.
