Saif Ali Khan, amidst other actors and film industry members, has extended support towards the #MeToo campaign in Bollywood.
In an interview with PTI, Saif makes a shocking statement about how he was subjected to harassment in the industry.
He says:
“I have also been harassed in my career, not sexually, but I have been harassed 25 years ago and I am still angry about it.”
Having suffered in the industry, Saif Ali Khan feels that it is important to empathize and understand the pain of the victim subjected to sexual harassment because all they seek is justice.
“Most people don’t understand other people. It is very difficult to understand other people’s pain. I don’t want to talk about it because I am not important today.
Even when I think about what happened to me I still get angry. Today, we have to look after women,” Saif reasoned.
The Sacred Games actor adds, “People are offended and they want justice. What it is happening is good and it gives you a sense that something is happening.”
Of recent people who have been accused of sexual harassments, have stepped down from projects.
For instance, Sajid Khan stepped down as director of Housefull 4, Nana Patekar too walked out from the film and Aamir Khan opted out of Mogul.
Now, Saif has voiced an opinion on similar lines. He expressed: “Most people don’t understand other people. It is very difficult to understand other people’s pain.
I don’t want to talk about it because I am not important today. Even when I think about what happened to me I still get angry. Today, we have to look after women.”
Khan also claims that this movement is good and gives a sense ‘something is happening’.
Meanwhile, Saif is gearing up for the release of Gauravv K Chawla’s Baazaar starring Radhika Apte, Rohan Mehra and Chitrangda Singh in pivotal roles.
The film releases on October 26, 2018.
