Saif Ali Khan as we know is a compassionate father to three kids — Sara, Ibrahim and Taimur.
Now, the latest buzz in the media is that Saif will play a completely opposite role in National Award-winning director Nitin Kakkar’s next, Jawaani Jaaneman.
A source tells an Indian media outlet:
“Saif will be seen as a man in his late 40s, who refuses to grow up. He believes in living life to the fullest but soon realises that he has a teenage daughter.
In other words, he is an unmarried, accidental dad in the rom-com.”
The fact that the actor is a father to adult kids and is so comfortable with it has made him more eligible for the role. The source adds:
“Saif is comfortable with his age and playing a father to a teenager on screen. Moreover, this role is different from his real-life persona, so he felt it would be interesting to take it up.”
Jawaani Jaaneman depicts the dynamics between a dad and his daughter results in a change in the former’s personality.
A newcomer has been roped in to play the Nawab of Pataudi’s daughter and an official announcement is expected to be made soon.
The film, which goes on floors early next year in London, is special to Saif for more reasons than one. It not only marks his return to production with his new home banner but also to rom-coms, a genre that has got him maximum recognition as an actor.
The last time we met the 48-year-old, he had said, “I miss doing a fun, frothy movie. But Nitin’s film is in that space.”
Nitin Kakar’s last film was Filmistaan, which released in 2014.
