Kanchi Singh will not be returning to Star Plus’ Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata to continue her role as Gayu.
According to a media report, the makers of the series are searching for a new face to portray the character.
Kanchi will not be playing the role of Gayu. We are looking out for a fresh face. Auditions are on,” a source tells a media outlet.
The actor herself tells a leading daily: “No, I am not at all entering Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai at all. I have happily moved on from the show and have nothing to do with the makers.
I never even thought of going back,” Kanchi told TOI.
As per the new promo, we can see how the Goenkas, Maheshwaris and Singhanias are enjoying a reunion and later, the entry of Gayu (which was earlier played by Kanchi Singh) leaves Kartik and Naira super surprised.
The face of Gayu aka Gayatri has not revealed and Kanchi not returning to the show explains why.
Yeh Rishta premiered on January 12, 2009, and it is one of the few longest running Hindi series.
