Moushumi Chatterjee Pursues Court for Access to Comatose Daughter

Yesteryear Indian actor Moushumi Chatterjee (Mukherjee), of Angoor and Piku fame, moved the Bombay High Court on Thursday.

She seeks directions to her son-in-law that he grant her access to her bed-ridden and comatose daughter, Payal.

Senior advocate Beni Chatterjee mentioned the matter before a bench of Justices BP Dharmadhikari and Sarang Kotwal, who has posted the matter for further hearing on Saturday.

The court has also directed Dicky Mehta, Chatterjee’s son-in-law and in whose custody Payal currently is, to file a detailed reply.

The plea filed by Chatterjee states that the couple got married in 2010 and that her daughter has been suffering from serious illness.

Last year, she was admitted to the hospital and at the time, the actress and her family were allowed to meet Payal.

However, a few months ago, Mehta and his family got Payal discharged from the hospital in a comatose state, and have since been treating her at their Khar residence.

The actress has alleged that thereafter, the in-laws and Mehta have not given her daughter proper care nor allowed her and her family to meet Payal.

Moushumi’s advocate argued, “Our prayer is that directions be given to provide proper medical care to the patient and help her recover well.”

The counsel for the husband though opposed the plea and said all proper medication is being provided. The court accordingly asked Mehta to clarify his stand.

Chatterjee’s plea claims her daughter Payal is seriously ill and comatose

She also alleges that her husband, Dicky Mehta is not taking proper care or letting her family meet Payal.

Here’s wishing Payal a speedy recovery.
