Anil Kapoor will play Shah Jahan in Karan Johar’s next film, Takht.
Now, reports are in about his role that Anil will have to put on a lot of weight to play the Mughal Emperor.
As per a source in a news report:
“Anil will be putting on a lot of weight to look his part.
He is currently extremely lean and fit, but early next year, he will be on a different diet and will gain quite a few kilos before he begins shoot for the period drama.”
This would be something new for the actor who has been giving us all fitness goals from quite some time.
Interestingly, Kapoor portrayed the role of overweight man years back in the film Badhaai Ho Badhaai. It will be something new for the audiences to look forward to.
Meanwhile, Karan Johar, in an interview to Film Companion, had earlier revealed that Takht will be like Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, but it would be set in the Mughal era.
He also had mentioned that since the story is of that period, it will involve a lot of politics. He said:
“It’s about two warring brothers and it’s based on facts. It’s like the K3G of the Mughal era. But it’s more extreme, there is more betrayal.
It has the tropes of court politics. It’s so rich in texture.”
The magnum-opus will also be a multi-starrer with a stellar cast.
Karan Johar revealed earlier that the movie will star Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in the main lead.
Takht is slated to release in 2020.
