Legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle called the shots for a scene picturised on Padmini Kolhapure as Gopika Bai and Mohnish Bahl as Nana Saheb in Panipat.
Asha had been meaning to make a trip to Karjat, where the film is being shot, to witness the grandeur of the sets and catch up with her favourite filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker and actress Padmini Kolhapure.
She managed to get time out the other day and travelled to Karjat to spend quality time on Panipat’s majestic sets.
“It was really sweet of Ashaji to visit us on the sets. She brought in such vibrant energy and spread a lot of cheer,” says Gowariker.
About her calling the shots on a scene, the filmmaker said, “I must say, she does have a knack for direction, too.
We were thrilled to have her on the sets and I hope she keeps surprising me like this with such wonderful visits.”
Filming of the historical drama, Panipat, starring Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon, is underway and the team, led by director Ashutosh Gowariker is sparing no effort in ensuring that they deliver a cinematic masterpiece.
Based on the Third Battle of Panipat of 1761, the period drama has Arjun playing the Maratha ruler Sadashiv Rao and Sanjay as the invading Afghan King, Admad Shah Abdali.
The film is scheduled to release in December this year.
