Sacred Games 2 has been keenly awaited and now the teaser, as well as the main cast, has been revealed.
The crime thriller web show was streamed last year in the month of July much to the excitement of the fans.
Based on a novel of the same name by Vikram Chandra, the show is set in two different eras:
The rise of Ganesh Gaitonde played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui and the aftermath of his death where life takes a turn for cop Sartaj Singh played by Saif Ali Khan.
The first season of Sacred Games ended on a very shocking note and several favourite characters were killed off too.
The second season will be aired soon this year and will have Saif and Nawazuddin reprising their roles.
Gaitonde’s track is directed by Anurag Kashyap while for the second season Sartaj’s track will be helmed by Neeraj Ghaywan – it was earlier directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.
For the second season, three new cast members have been added.
We got a glimpse of Pankaj Tripathi in season one and now Kalki Koechlin and Ranvir Shorey are the new actors to be seen on the show.
Here’s a breakdown of who plays what!
Pankaj Tripathi plays ‘Guruji’
A short glimpse Pankaj Tripathi as Guruji was seen in the first season.
His character is an intriguing one and has many hidden levels.
The character of Guruji is introduced as Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s character Ganesh Gaitonde’s ‘third father’.
Kalki Koechlin as ‘Batya’
Confirming speculations, Kalki Koechlin will be a part of Sacred Games 2. Well, the reports have turned out to be true.
The talented actor will be seen playing the role of Batya. Going by her first look, she looks like one of the disciples of Guruji.
Talking about starring in Sacred Games 2, Kalki told the media:
“Personally, I am a fan of the series, and it is super awesome to be a part of the Sacred Games and Netflix family.
Season 2 promises to be much more exciting and I cannot wait for viewers to watch me in the series.”
Ranvir Shorey plays ‘Shahid Khan’
Ranvir Shorey also plays a pivotal role in the show. In his first look, the actor is seen giving an intense look while holding a gun.
Ranvir spoke about the show by saying: “The digital platform is so empowering and working on this audience-favourite show has been an absolute delight!
My character in Sacred Games 2, Shahid Khan, is a complete departure from any of the roles I’ve played before and I’m looking forward to fans across the world bingeing on the new season.”
Sartaj & Gaitonde Return
Sacred Games 2 promises a new trail of friendship, betrayal, crime, passion and a thrilling chase through Mumbai’s underbelly with these new characters.
The release date for the second season is yet to be announced.
