Anushka Shetty has been reportedly approached for Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan for a pivotal role. The film also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
According to sources, the makers of Ponniyin Selvan are in talks with Anushka Shetty and her team.
The Baahubali actress is yet to confirm her inclusion in the film, but rumours suggest that she will most likely sign on the dotted line soon.
Ratnam has been trying to adapt Tamil historical novel Ponniyin Selvan to a movie for several years.
It looks like the Kaatru Veliyidai director is inching close to his dream as the film is expected to commence sometime in 2020.
Earlier, it was reported that Mani Ratnam had initiated talks with Nayanthara as well.
However, this no longer seems to be the case as there have been no updates on her inclusion from either side.
Meanwhile, Keerthy Suresh has given her nod to be part of the epic saga.
Earlier, Lyca Productions had partnered with Madras Talkies to produce the film. But, they had walked out due to undisclosed reasons.
Now, Mani Ratnam is said to be in talks with Jio Studios to produce this venture.
Currently, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Sathyaraj, Mohan Babu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Amala Paul are part of the ensemble cast.
Final confirmations are expected soon.
