Kangana Ranaut: Entertainment journalists to Boycott her After Argument with Journalist

After Kangana Ranaut accused a journalist of running a smear campaign at the Judgementall Hai Kya song launch, entertainment reporters have collectively decided to boycott her.

Two days ago, Kangana Ranaut unveiled ‘The Wakhra Song’, the first track from her film Judgementall Hai Kya.

During the event, she accused a journalist of running a smear campaign against her and her movies. This became a verbal spat, but matters did not end there.

Kangana did not clear her stance there, and the matter has been taken forward from each side.

Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel shared screenshots of the reporter’s posts where he supposedly ran a smear campaign.

On the other hand, the journalists too have set up a committee.

Senior journalists from the committee have already met producer Ekta Kapoor who was also present at the song launch.

The committee released an official statement highlighting:

“To all the entertainment journalists a body,

Entertainment Journalists Guild of India has been formed, in the light of the unfortunate incident that happened with reporter Justin Rao from PTI, on July 7 at the promotional event of Judgementall Hai Kya.

The body has been formed to safeguard the interests of our fraternity and address issues that entertainment journalists face on a daily basis be it with actors or producers or PR.

It is time for us to stand united to support our fellow members.

Today a few members of the body met Ms Ekta Kapoor at her office to demand an apology.

Subsequently, the committee has decided to boycott Kangana during the promotional spree of the film.

In response to this, Balaji Motion Pictures has issued an apology. The statement reads as:

“While the people involved in it fairly held their own perspectives but because it happened at the event of our film, we, as the producers, would like to apologize and express regret for this untoward incident.

We would like to maintain that our intention was not to disrespect or hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Our film Judgementall Hai Kya releases on July 26th and we urge the media to not let this one incident hamper the team effort that has gone behind making the film.”

The movie is slated to release on 26th July.
