Vivek Oberoi has been exploring various roles, in diverse languages and platforms. After a cliff-hanging ending in the first season, viewers have been highly anticipating his infamous character to return.
So, what can we expect from Vikrant Dhawan in this second season? Oberoi describes:Â Â
“With Vikrant, you have to expect the unexpected. The last season ended on a dramatic note, but this season, he returns as a wounded lion… Rising up like a phoenix to get back into his territory. It’s very exciting.”
The show broke class ceilings of sorts and the first season was also nominated for an Emmy. Regarding this tremendous achievement, he says:
“It’s an incredible honour… The first time that for an Indian show to be nominated across the Amazon stable globally and I think this is the only Amazon show that has been nominated which itself is a big deal.
This is because everywhere else whether it’s in the UK or the US, the budget is so much larger. You’ve got all these really big fancy shows and our little humble attempt here has gone global and been recognised worldwide that’s an incredible honour.”
Speaking about exploring such a dark character on screen, he says:
“That’s the best part! you could play a ‘negative’ character and still celebrated because some love Vikrant’s role. It’s just so humbling to even know how people were excited in the last 11 seconds of the trailer when they realised Vikrant is back.
It’s a very fulfilling medium. People don’t look at it through the brackets of a ‘positive’ or ‘negative’ character.”
He adds: “As an actor, I had to feel a sense of the fact that this guy was somebody who used intimidation and his larger-than-life kind of aura to get what he needed to get done. He is a proponent of power.”
Directed by Aakash Bhatia, Karan Anshuman, Gurmmeet Singh, the series is executively produced by Farhan Akhtar & Ritesh Sidhwani.
Joining the cast lead cast in Season 2 are Aamir Bashir, Sapna Pabbi, and Markand Deshpande.Â
