Yash Raj Films declared that it would be making a rebooted version of Bunty Aur Babli which would be set in today’s day and age.
It was said that the film will also see a time leap of 10 years and introduce a fresh pair as the new scammers.
Revealing the star cast of Bunty Aur Babli 2, YRF announces that Gully Boy‘s Siddhant Chaturvedi who played MC Sher in the film would be the new male lead.
Whereas, YRF is launching a new heroine, Sharvari Wagh, a stunningly gorgeous girl from Mumbai.
The movie will be helmed by Varun Sharma who was an assistant director on YRF’s biggest blockbusters Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai.
Speaking about the new project Varun said: “Bunty Aur Babli 2 is completely set in today’s time.
Siddhant caught everyone’s eye with his brilliant acting debut in Gully Boy and became the heartthrob of the nation.
We are very excited to have him play the role of Bunty.
He is a superb actor, is extremely charming and he fits the role perfectly. Sharvari is an extremely special actress to watch out for.
She is a powerful performer and you have to watch her on-screen to understand what we mean. Given the film and the roles, they are definitely the perfect casting.
They are a fresh, hot pair and their chemistry and energy are infectious.”
Varun would also be writing the sequel and the film is all set to be produced by Aditya Chopra.
The original 2005 film starred Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji in the lead roles as con-artists, whilst Amitabh Bachchan played the cop who hunted them down.
It will be interesting to see who will essay the police officer this time round!
