The 2018 super-hit Badhaai Ho gets a soul sequel with Badhaai Do and it stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednkear in the lead.
Rajkummar plays a Delhi-based cop, the sole male cop in a female police station, Bhumi has been roped in to play the PT teacher.
The movie is about the mishaps which take place once their characters meet each other.
Talking about her character in the film, Bhumi informed an Indian newspaper that she immediately agreed to do the film since she was a fan of Badhaai Ho and the script gripped her right from the start.
“My character again is strong, independent and author-backed, and it gives me a lot of scopes to bring a very different and cool character to life.
This time, too, the film will say something extremely relevant and relatable, but in a hilarious manner. I’m also excited to share screen space with Raj for the first time.”
On a similar vein: Rajkummar feels a new perspective despite playing a cop in his career before in films like Talaash.
He conveys: “I look for layered characters and this is a perfect match.
My character is surrounded by strong women at home and work, and that adds immense depth to his personality.”
Badhaai Do will be helmed by Hunterrr director Harshavardhan Kulkarni, who promises a ‘completely new and zanier situation’ in the film.
Set to go on floors in June, the movie is slated for release in early 2021.
