Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a bonafide international icon, who has experienced leaps of success after a hiatus in life.
His story to stardom is inspirational, posing as a testament to human grit and spirit.
With his recent stint on the digital space, he too has cemented his presence on this revolutionary platform, which has gained prominence in India and globally.
Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, his forthcoming film, Ghoomketu, will now have a release on ZEE5.
Having a global presence across 190+ countries, ZEE5 is the ideal release for the movie.
Furthermore, it also marks the Eid celebrations this weekend. Sharing a few words on the film, Siddiqui expresses:
“Ghoomketu is a quirky, never-seen-before character and I thoroughly enjoyed playing him.
Anurag, who is generally behind the camera, will be seen sharing screen space with us and it was a great experience to work with him as an actor.
‘Ghoomketu’ has a phenomenal storyline which will definitely entertain the audience.
During this time of the lockdown, I am glad that a humorous film that the entire family can watch is being streamed on ZEE5.”
The film is a classic story of a Bollywood dream.
It revolves around an aspiring writer from a small town in UP who runs away to the city of dreams and gives himself 30 days to try to prove his worth.
Since Nawazuddin himself has always aspired and worked towards his passion of acting, how much did he reflect on his actual experiences in life?
He tells Filme Shilmy:
“In the sense that he travels from the small town to the city, I could connect with that aspect, but otherwise but besides this, his journey is different.
As far as Ghoomketu’s writing is concerned, he has his own thoughts and ideologies. He writes things from his point of view.
At times though, he is also delusional about a few things.”
Plus, it is no secret that he is a huge favourite among South Asians here in the UK. Therefore, what message does he have for our readers/viewers?
“It’s a family-oriented film and since our director hails from the same milieu as the protagonist
He (Puspendra Nath Mishra) even today recites stories from his home in such a way that it feels like we’re literally there.
In a similar way, he has simplified those earthy stories and emotions. When one watches the film, you will also feel like you’re sitting in your village.
Viewers, from anywhere around the UK will also feel like they’re watching a story of their home. It will definitely evoke nostalgia.”
Siddiqui also co-stars with his friend, veteran filmmaker Anurag Kashyap (also the co-producer of the film).
