Bollywood actors Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh will be reportedly summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
This probe is believed to be linked with the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput‘s death.
These are some high-profile names to have emerged during this widening inquest. Deepika has been summoned on 25 September, while Shraddha and Sara on 26 September.
Deepika’s name reportedly came up during the interrogation of Sushant’s talent manager Jaya Saha, who is an employee of KWAN talent management agency.
As such, Padukone’s manager Karishma Prakash is also associated with KWAN. Karishma was also been summoned by the NCB, but she has sought an exemption on grounds of “ill health”.
In fact, the Chhapaak actor’s name emerged in one of the WhatsApp chats where the actor is allegedly asking for ‘maal, hash’ from a certain person ‘K’. These chats were shown on various Indian news channels.
Currently, Deepika is shooting for Shakun Batra’s next in Goa.
When questioned by the authorities, media reports have stated that Jaya confessed that she bought CBD oil for Shraddha online.
According to Bollywood Hungama, there were certain WhatsApp chats retrieved in which the duo is seen discussing the substance.
Apart from Shraddha Kapoor, Jaya Saha has also arranged the same substance for Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant Singh Rajput and filmmaker Madhu Mantena Verma as well as herself.
Saha has recorded her statement and has said that she is not in contact with any drug peddler.
Earlier, Rakul Preet Singh filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against a media trial.
She claimed in her plea that Sushant’s partner and actor Rhea Chakraborty had already retracted the statement in which she was allegedly named and yet the media reports were connecting her to the case.
Sushant Singh Rajput’s death is currently being investigated by the CBI (Central Bureau of Intelligence), ED (Enforcement Directorate) and NCB.
With regards to Rhea Chakraborty, her 14-days-long judicial custody was supposed to end on 22nd September but has been rejected by the High Court yet again.
Media reports suggest that the plea was rejected on the bases of the possibility of Rhea Chakraborty alerting the rest of the convicts involved and destroying the evidence.
She had given a list of 15 names of the celebrities that were possibly involved in the matter in question.
Along with her, her younger brother Showik Chakraborty, Basit Parihar, and two of Sushant Singh Rajput’s house staff members – Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda, have also been arrested.
A special NDPS court extended Rhea Chakraborty‘s judicial custody to 6th October. The actress has filed a bail plea in the Bombay High Court which will be heard on 24th September.
