Janhvi Kapoor in Aanand L Rai’s Remake of Kolamavu Kokila?

As per an exclusive media report, Janhvi Kapoor has signed apparently signed Aanand L Rai’s production with a forthcoming black comedy crime film.

According to PeepingMoon, the film will be the remake of 2018 Tamil hit, Kolamavu Kokila directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.

Stepping into the shoes of superstar Nayanthara, Janhvi will essay the role of a young girl who gets involved in drug racket to earn quick money.

Eventually, circumstances bring her entire family into the drug smuggling business and what entails is a series of unwarranted twists which makes the film an engaging thriller.

The outlet cites that the production could go-on-floors in February next year.

Siddharth Sengupta who has previously worked as an assistant director in movies like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, Agneepath, and Heartless will direct the currently untitled film.

Kapoor was last seen in Netflix’s Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.

Playing the titular role, the biographical drama is based on India’s first female Air Force officer to fly in a combat zone during the 1999 Kargil War.

Earlier, Filme Shilmy caught up with the budding actor to discuss her journey in Bollywood since Dhadak and then Ghost Stories.

She said: “I realised that with each film, there has to be a different approach.

I’m also learning a lot about myself as an actor. For example in Dhadak, we did a lot of readings. On my next film, it’s important for me to read and understand the script and my character.

However, I prefer not doing readings at all. I rather just go on set and giving it a shot. It all depends on the environment that is created and the kind of character you play.

It is fun to try out all these things but of course, there’s a lot of strength and physical preparations required for these roles.

The way people are respondent towards good script and good characters, an actor must completely surrender to the material and work hard.

I’ve realised that it’s important to have really well-written characters in our craft because (I believe) audiences like to feel that they can relate to what they are seeing on-screen.”

Well, given that she also has Dinesh Vijan’s Roohi Afzah and Dharma Productions’ Dostana 2 in the pipeline, the future sure seems bright for Janhvi!
