Tuesdays & Fridays: Taranveer Singh’s Breezy and Fresh Rom-Com With New Faces

After much anticipation, Taranveer Singh’s directorial debut Tuesdays & Fridays will finally see the light of day.

The film marks the debut of actress Poonam Dhillon’s son Anmol Thakeria Dhillon and former Miss India International Jhataleka Malhotra.

In addition, Reem Shaikh, who played Malala Yousafzai in Gul Makai and Ibrahim Chaudhary also star in the romantic-comedy.

Whilst the movie marks Taranveer’s first feature movie as a director, he has been assistant director in popular films such as Karthik Calling Karthik and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Sharing a few words on his first work as a director, Taranveer shares with Filme Shilmy:

“As my directorial debut, I always wanted to make a film that was reminiscent of the rom coms I grew up watching but with my own take on them. I really hope I’ve managed to do that through Tuesdays & Fridays.

Following the revelation of posters, the team have finally revealed the trailer and it promises to be quite the breezy and cute watch.

The film is a quirky romantic comedy about Varun (Anmol), a bestselling author, and Sia (Jhataleka), an entertainment lawyer.

They both have their distinct way of looking at love. Varun doesn’t believe in long term relationships and he follows a ‘7-week rule’, whereby he decides the expiry date of a relationship at the very beginning.

Sia doesn’t agree with this, so she comes up with a plan according to which they are in a relationship only on two days a week, Tuesdays and Fridays.

On other days, they are allowed to date whoever they want. From there on, the film is a cat and mouse game about who actually has control in this arrangement.

Further describing what Taran saw in his actors and why they were apt for the role, he shares:

“I knew Anmol was ‘Varun’ the moment he walked into the office because he had the exact look and vibe I imagined for the character.

As for Jhataleka, I had seen her terrific audition where she enacted Alia Bhatt’s outburst scene from Imtiaz Ali’s Highway.

But what really clinched the deal was a dance video I saw of her’s dancing to Madhuri Dixit’s Aaja Nachle title song.

She had that ‘old world Hindi film heroine quality’ which is just so rare to come by these days.”

Tuesdays & Fridays is produced by Bhansali Productions & SCIPL and written, directed by Taranveer Singh, releasing on 19 February 2021.
