Superstar Amitabh Bachchan will be starring with Deepika Padukone in the Bollywood adaptation of The Intern and according to reports, will commence shooting in November this year.
The original 2015 Warner Bros movie stars Hathaway as the workaholic CEO of an online fashion website who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a 70-year-old widower who becomes the company’s latest intern.
The original movie grossed $195M (over £140,322 approximately) worldwide, including $119M from offshore.
Last year, the Hindi remake of the Hollywood hit was announced in which Rishi Kapoor was to feature in the role originally played by Robert De Niro. Deepika was roped in for the role played by Anne Hathaway.
Padukone and Bachchan were cast as daughter and father in Shoojit Sircar’s 2015 movie Piku.
Apart from sweeping the Filmfare Awards, Piku was also recognized at the National Film Awards.
Amitabh Bachchan won the Best Actor National Award for his portrayal of an aged father in the slice-of-life drama.
The movie will be helmed by Badhaai Ho director Amit Ravindernath Sharma and produced by Sunir Kheterpal and Deepika Padukone.
The screenplay has been adapted by Akshat Ghildial and Mitesh Shah. Co-producers are Amit Ravindernath Sharma and Gaurav Bose.
The project will be backed by Warner Bros India and Athena.
It certainly seems like a very busy time for Deepika as she has a fantastic line up of projects including 83, Pathan, Ramayana and Shakun Batra’s next, amongst many others.
Mr Bachchan also has an interesting slate of films like Goodbye, Chehre, Brahmastra and Jhund coming out soon.
