Since Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, director Karan Johar has announced that he will be returning to the director’s seat.
In a grand video announcement on social media, the filmmaker has declared that he will be doing what he loves the most… Directing. He says:
“Personally, my primary passion always lies behind the camera. Telling stories, creating a world filled with a multitude of colours, eternal music, emotions… I feel it’s time to go back to my favourite place, on set. And to create what I adore the most, love stories.”
He further highlights: “I’m extremely excited to announce my next film tomorrow. A love story that is deeply embedded in the roots of family.”
“This is the beginning of a new journey and my way back home – all at once. It’s time to go back to my favourite place, it’s time to create some eternal love stories from behind the lens.
A very special story, truly immersed in the roots of love and family,” Johar writes in his tweet. The movie title revolves around the name of characters played by principal actors – Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
A media report indicates that the film in question marks the first-time collaboration of Karan with Dharmendra, who will be romantically paired alongside Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.
“It’s a love story set against the backdrop of strong family emotions. Karan is planning to go on floors around the month of September with a 5 to 6-month schedule.
It is Karan Johar’s return to his roots of making big scale family drama’s with a love story in its backdrop,” a source informs a leading entertainment daily.
This ensemble cast will mark the return of Karan as a director since 2016 and his first-time collaboration with both Azmi and Dharmendra.
He was earlier set to direct the period drama Takht, however, as of now, that has been shelved.
More details are expected during the major announcement.
