Bollywood actor and Bigg Boss contestant Armaan Kohli was arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) this morning after banned drugs were allegedly recovered from his Mumbai house.
“A small quantity of cocaine has been seized from his (Armaan Kohli) house,” said Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director of NCB’s Mumbai Zonal Unit.
The investigation has revealed that the case has international linkages as the cocaine seized has South American origin, the officer added.
The NCB Mumbai is probing the route and linkages used to bring the seized cocaine to Mumbai and the involvement of other traffickers.
A team of the anti-drugs agency on Saturday had intercepted one major drug peddler, Ajay Raju Singh, who was in possession of illegal drugs.
A follow-up operation was launched the same day based on the preliminary interrogation of the accused Ajay Raju Singh.
According to his inputs, a team of NCB raided the house of Arman Kohli in suburban Andheri and recovered a small quantity of Cocaine drug from him.
The NCB team later took the actor to its office in south Mumbai for questioning.
Armaan made his debut as a leading actor in his father’s 1992 film Virodhi.
He was set to star in Deewana opposite the late actress Divya Bharti but walked out of the film after completing the first shooting schedule and later Shah Rukh Khan was pencilled in as his replacement.
The film emerged as a success and after a sequence of unsuccessful movies, he returned with the 2002 multi-starrer Jaani Dushman, which also turned out to be a disaster.
In September 2013, he joined the reality television series Bigg Boss 7 as a contestant.
On 16 December 2013, Kohli was arrested for alleged physical abuse with his co-participant, Sofia Hayat during the show. He was released on bail next day.
Kohli made another comeback to Bollywood after 12 years, playing a negative role in the Rajshri Productions Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
As of now, Kohli has been remanded in the custody of NCB till Monday.
