Global Indian icon Deepika Padukone announces that she has founded and is set to launch a lifestyle brand that is rooted in India with a global appeal.
The first category of launch will focus on beauty and skincare. This category specifically, while rooted in India, will be backed by science.
Padukone is one of the most admired and acclaimed actors in the world and her achievements have made her one of the most influential voices amongst global audiences and consumers in recent times.
Time Magazine named her one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2018.
A year later, she received the prestigious World Economic Forum Crystal Award for her leadership in raising mental health awareness.
In 2018 and 2021, she featured in VARIETY’S ‘International Women’s Impact Report’ which celebrates the achievements of women in entertainment around the world.
One of the biggest brands on social media, Padukone enjoys an enormous digital footprint of more than 100 million users.
“India, I believe, has always been positioned uniquely. While we have tremendous access to the rest of the world, we are a country that is rich in values, culture and heritage; something we are extremely proud of.
Therefore, our endeavour is to build a brand that is rooted in India yet global in its reach and appeal,” said Padukone.
The brand is expected to roll out in 2022.
This news has come as another wonderful development from the actor after she announced her next big-budget Hollywood production which is touted to be a ‘cross-cultural’ rom-com.
Padukone, who was last seen in Meghna Gulzar’s Chhapaak, her debut production, has a fantastic line-up of films in her kitty and she’s on a roll.
She has an array of projects in the pipeline including Sidharth Anand’s Fighter with Hrithik Roshan, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, Madhu Mantena’s Draupadi, The Intern with Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan-John Abraham starrer Pathan and Shakun Batra’s untitled film with Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
One of the highest-paid actresses in India, Padukone’s accolades include three Filmfare Awards.
Since her debut in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om, Deepika has always undertaken roles in movies like Cocktail, Piku and Padmaavat which are not only strong and synonymous with empowerment, but they all seem to challenge male superiority, misuse of power and hypocrisy.
Having cemented her position as a highly bankable name in commercial cinema, Deepika made her Hollywood acting debut in the 2017 Action film xXx: Return Of Xander Cage, alongside Vin Diesel.
Her credentials also consist of the establishment of the Live Love Laugh Foundation, which creates awareness on mental health in India and she has been vocal about dealing with depression.
