The Bollywood action film Sooryavanshi and Marvel visual treat Eternals are all set to release on Diwali, October 22nd (4th November in the UK), in cinemas.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film also features Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn in cameo roles. It was earlier scheduled to release in March 2020 (and subsequently April this year) but got delayed due to the pandemic wave in India.
Rohit Shetty tweeted an image with Thackeray and wrote:
“Thanks to our Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, theatres in Maharashtra to reopen from 22nd October.
And FINALLY!!! we can say, This DIWALI… AA RAHI HAI POLICE…”
Carnival Cinemas also posted a photo with the filmmaker and wrote, “We look forward to cinemas reopening in Maharashtra soon! This year we will have a BIG screen DIWALI!!”
This news has emerged after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray declared that the state’s cinema halls will reopen from October 22.
This declaration was made following a meeting with the film industry and theatre representatives. Shetty was also in attendance.
Sooryavanshi shows how DCP Veer Sooryavanshi (Kumar), the chief of the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad and his team join forces with Inspector Sangram Bhalerao (Ranveer Singh) and DCP Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn) to stop a terrorist group planning to attack Mumbai.
It is also expected that the movie will release alongside Marvel’s Eternals, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao.
The film will see the eponymous powerful celestial beings who were ever-present on earth, but could not interfere, fight with Deviants.
These characters will be introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time and is set to release on 5th November.
Eternals boasts of a star-studded cast including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Kit Harrington, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani and more.
