Prime Video India is on board to showcase four major Bollywood films backed by India’s biggest production house, Yash Raj Films (YRF), just four weeks after their theatrical release
The content slate consists of films from various genres including:
- Heist Comedy Bunty Aur Babli 2 (starring Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari)
- Period-Action Shamshera (Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt)
- Historical-Action Prithviraj (Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Manushi Chhillar and Sonu Sood)
- Social Comedy/Drama Jayeshbhai Jordaar (Ranveer Singh, Ratna Pathak Shah and Boman Irani)
The streaming platform already exhibits YRF’s classics like Darr, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Silsila, Chandni, Dil To Pagal Hai and many more.
Recent titles like Thugs Of Hindostan, War and Mardaani also received digital premieres on the OTT Platform.
“In Prime Video, we have found a partner that not only shares our vision of offering engaging cinematic experiences but also provides global distribution to the best stories from the Indian entertainment ecosystem,” says YRF Senior Vice President, Akshaye Widhani.
“We are excited to ink this exclusive streaming deal with Prime Video, which will enable our upcoming titles to travel beyond geographies and add further value to Prime Video’s stellar content library.”
In other Prime Video news, their last Hindi release Sardar Udham by Shoojit Sircar based on India’s freedom fighter Shaheed Udham Singh was rejected to contest for Oscars 2022.
Reasons for passing it as the country’s official entry is because it “projects hatred towards British”, as summarised by an Indian Jury.
In place of Sardar Udham, Tamil film Koozhangal (Pebbles), directed by P.S. Vinothraj, has been selected to represent India under the Best International Feature Film category.
