The highly anticipated film Bob Biswas is gearing for a World Premiere on ZEE5 Global. It marks another partnership between Sujoy Ghosh’s Boundscript Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment post-Badla (2019).
With Diya Annapurna Ghosh stepping in as first-time director, the movie’s backdrop is a Kolkata-based love story, showcasing the dual life led by a contract killer, Bob Biswas.
The character, first seen in Sujoy’s 2012 sleeper-hit Kahaani, was chillingly portrayed by Saswata Chatterjee. Now, it will see Abhishek Bachchan headlining the role, with Chitrangda Singh stepping in as a pivotal character.
“This is a new ‘Bob Biswas’, he is like any of us. In life, we all have various roles to play, whether as a parent, spouse or friend and in each role we are equally responsible and accountable. This is the world of Bob, where he is trying to cope with each role as his life unfolds before him. Creating this world of Bob was super exciting and having Abhishek onboard has made the film even cooler. I genuinely hope that the audience enjoys what they see,” says Sujoy Ghosh.
In an earlier interview with us, Bachchan speaks about playing dark/questionable characters in a balanced manner following his recent releases of The Big Bull and Breathe: Into The Shadows. He says.
“I’ve been very lucky because both of them (his roles in Dasvi and Bob Biswas) are well-written… In terms of writing, I don’t think the writers should be pressurised with the morality of a character. I think the actors and producers when they step into a project have to worry about that because you’re then making something for an audience. We all want to cater to a particular audience and that’s when the morality comes into it.”
