The trailer of Bollywood’s highly-anticipated picture 83 is finally out and shows Ranveer Singh stepping in as the cricketing legend, Kapil Dev.
This glimpse shows the Indian team gaining momentum halfway through the series, going from being the underdogs to winners. Highlights also include the immense rivalry between India and West Indies team.
Harrdy Sandhu playing Madan Lal and Ammy Virk playing Balvinder Sandhu are quite impressive in the trailer. Deepika Padukone plays the pivotal role of Kapil’s wife Romi Dev and piques curiosity.
Other cast members include Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Addinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa, R Badree and Pankaj Tripathi, among others.
In an earlier interview with us, Tahir spoke about playing Sunil Gavaskar in the film. He says:
“It took 6 months of training with a national coach to just get his (Gavaskar’s) strokes and stance right. Given that people in India are enthusiasts in films and cricket… When you try to do both of those things together, you know people are going to have an opinion.
Before I got to the ‘acting’ part, I had to get the cricket part right and we spent a lot of time training – in stretches and forms. Just to get the physicality of the part.”
The film was originally scheduled to release in 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
