Made on a hefty budget of Rs 350 crores, director SS Rajamouli (Baahubali) drops the trailer of his forthcoming epic, RRR. It is fixed for a January 7 release.
The action picture is headlined by the two principal heroes, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) as humans with superhuman strength. Both these characters are inspired by the Telugu freedom fighters.
During the announcement of the film in 2019, Rajamouli spoke about the freedom fighters. He said: “There are gaps in the lives of these legendary freedom fighters that we don’t know about. We don’t know what happened in their lives in these years. It is through this fictional story. We’d like to show what could have happened in their lives, what would have happened if they met and bonded.”
Raju is a top official in the British Raj during the 20s and his duties include controlling and thrashing the crowd that rebels. Bheem is the leader, who is leading the rebels.
Technically, Raju and Beehm are enemies as their loyalties lie in different places. As fate would have it, they both eventually come on the same side of the fight against imperialism.
RRR also ropes in Bollywood stars Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran and Alia Bhatt, all of whom play pivotal roles in the film. A few glimpses of them can be seen within the trailer.
The movie will release alongside other major South-Indian flicks Radhe Shyam, Bheemla Nayak and Valimai. It releases in Telugu along with the dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, to name a few.
