Aishwarya & Priyanka In Top 20 Of YouGov’s ‘World’s Most Admired Women’ 2021 List

Bollywood and global stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are among the ‘Most Admired People’ in 2021, as per the annual study compiled by YouGov. The list also sees other dignitaries including human rights campaigner, Malala Yousafzai and Hollywood superstars Scarlette Johansson, Angelina Jolie and Emma Watson.

Chopra Jonas has risen to 10th rank this year and Rai Bachchan re-enters the list on 13th number. Both have been busy with major works. Priyanka has had her hands full with Hollywood production The White Tiger, Amazon series Citadel and The Matrix: Resurrections. Aishwarya has completed the shoot of Mani Ratnam’s magnum-opus Ponniyin Selvan and announced her Hollywood comeback.

This year’s study surveyed more than 42,000 people in 38 countries and territories to compile the list. Conducted online, the results are calculated from the combination of responses to two questions. Firstly, whether a respondent admires the figure at all. Secondly, whether they are the figure the respondent admires the most. Each nation’s results in the global compilation are weighted to represent the country’s population size.

The study finds that entertainers are more prominent in the female list. Ten of the most admired women are actresses, singers or TV presenters. Though artists like Watson and Jolie are involved with philanthropic work. The list of most admired men contains more people from political, business and sporting backgrounds.

Superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan rank at 14 and 15, respectively, in the men’s list. On the 8th position is India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 12th is cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar (new on the top twenties list this year). Other additions to the top twenties include US president Joe Biden, vice president Kamala Harris, Thai rapper Lisa and New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern. Topping the list for both genders are is Barack and Michelle Obama.
