Veteran thespian Sachin Khedekar (Antim: The Final Truth) makes his digital in SonyLIV’s The Whistleblower. The fictional show portrays how merit takes a backseat and undeserving students get more opportunities than meritorious ones.
Khedekar plays the role of Dr Ashwin Bhadoria, who is an honest man who heads a medical college. His life is turned upside down after his son (played by Bandish Bandits’ Ritwik Bhowmik) gets involved in a controversy.
Speaking about his role, Sachin says: “My character goes through a myriad of emotions, and it was such an enriching experience to portray such a simple yet complex character in such a short frame. This is a very intriguing show, and I am sure the audience will be hooked.”
The series is based on the real-life ‘Vyapam Scam’. During this fraud, talented proxies wrote exams for undeserving candidates, who went on to score seats, jobs, and become doctors. Between 2013 and 2015, the Vyapam scam came to light. A chunk of the mafia was arrested. Those who came in the way of the mafia or were about to expose the scam died under mysterious circumstances.
The nine-episodic series features notable talents like Ravi Kishan, Sonali Kulkarni, Zakir Hussain and Hemant Kher. It is helmed by Manoj Pillai and creator/writer Ajay Monga. StudioNEXT backs the venture and is streams exclusively on SonyLIV.
