Anushka Sharma’s Chakda Xpress & Netflix 2022 Slate Revealed

Popular Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma makes her acting comeback in Prosit Roy’s Chakda Xpress, inspired by cricketer Jhulan Goswami. Karnesh Ssharma’s Clean Slate Filmz backs the picture for a Netflix premiere.

The movie delves into the not-so-rosy world of women’s cricket back then as Goswami overcomes the patriarchy within the sport. Sharma notes: “There is still a lot of work to be done and we have to empower them with the best so that the sport can flourish for women in India.”

Anushka, whose last acting role appearance was in Zero (2018), talks about the cricket legend’s ‘passion and perseverance’. She cites: “Jhulan had a fighting and extremely uncertain cricketing career and she stayed motivated to make her country proud. She strived to change the stereotype that women can’t make a career out of playing cricket in India so that the next generation of girls had a better playing field.”

Meanwhile, in other Netflix news, the streaming giant has revealed their major slate of titles lined up for 2022. These include 9 original series and 6 films. Some of the headlines are Sakshi Tanwar’s Mai, Vishal Bhardwaj’s Khufiya, Babil Khan’s Qala and Rajkummar Rao’s Monica, O My Darling, among others.

Sonam Nair’s Masaba Masaba, Ronnie Screwvala’s Mismatched and Imtiaz Ali’s She are all set to return for season 2. India’s prominent mainstream comedian Kapil Sharma makes his OTT debut with the special, I’m Not Done Yet.  Docuseries Indian Predator, decoding the minds of some of India’s deadliest killers, will also be exhibited.

Release dates for all content will be announced soon.
