Dasvi Set For Netflix Premiere; Trailer Revealed
Maddock Films collaborate with Netflix once again after Mimi for the streaming premiere of Dasvi and the makers release the trailer. It revolves around a corrupt Chief Minister named Ganga Ram Chaudhary (Abhishek Bachchan), who is sentenced to judicial custody. A man who is used to powerplay, finds himself lost in the land of alphabets. During his jail term, he meets a tough cop (Yami Gautam), who challenges him to fulfil his long lost dream of completing the Class 10th exam. Meanwhile, Chaudhary’s wife (Nimrat Kaur) takes over the CM’s chair and is reluctant to let it go. The picture is directed by Tushar Jalota with onboard Jio Studios as co-producers. Dasvi premieres on April 7 2022.
Mai Netflix Series Secures Streaming Date
In other Netflix news, crime-thriller series Mai gears for 15 April streaming date. The show centres on Sheel (Sakshi Tanwar), a mature wife and mother, who gets embroiled in a network of white-collar crime and dirty politics. This plunges her into a rabbit hole of violence that irrevocably alters her and the world she lives in. Tanwar plays a devastated mother who uncovers the culprits responsible for her daughter’s terrible murder. Subsequently, she transforms from meek to ruthless in order to uncover the truth. Mai showcases Wamiqa Gabbi and Raima Sen in prominent roles. Vivek Mushran, Prashant Narayanan, Seema Pahwa are also cast. Atul Mongia is the showrunner and directs with Phillauri‘s Anshai Lal. Karnesh Sharma’s Clean Slate Filmz is backing.
Priyanka Chopra in Amazon’s The Secret Daughter Adaptation
Priyanka Chopra is set to star and co-produce in The Secret Daughter, a screen adaptation of Shilpi Somaya Gowda’s novel of the same name. Singaporean director Anthony Chen steps in as director. The picture features Alfie‘s Sienna Miller in the lead. Shruti Ganguly is adapting the book. It is narrated through the eyes of two women interconnected by a child. Somer (Miller) is a newly married physician in San Francisco who makes the devastating discovery that she will never be able to have children. The same year in India, a poor mother makes the heartbreaking choice to save her newborn daughter’s life by giving her away. Kavita (Chopra) will be haunted by that decision every moment for the rest of her life. Asha is the child who is adopted out of a Mumbai orphanage and binds the destinies of the two women. Amazon Studios are negotiating the deal with Sunset Lane Media also producing.
