‘Hullraisers’ Yanick Ghanty Signs Amazon Prime Video Show & Mockumentary Feature

EXCLUSIVE: British Actor and Staged Combat specialist Yanick Ghanty is currently filming a BAFTA and RTS award-winning Television show. He will then shoot for a mockumentary film, Deadlift. Filme Shilmy also exclusively learns that he has also signed an Amazon Prime Video series. More details on these to follow in due course.

Currently, Ghanty gears up for his TV debut with Channel 4 sitcom Hullraisers. Fable Pictures is roped in to produce with Lucy Beaumont as the co-writer. It revolves around Toni (Leah Brotherhead), Rana (Taj Atwal), and Paula (Sinéad Matthews). The show delves into their dishevelled, messy and joyful lives.

The series explores the hilarious and agonising reality of what it is to be a working-class woman juggling work, kids, demanding friends, family and frustrating parents from the school playground – all whilst trying to have some fun too. Shot on location in the Avenues area of Hull, the six-part show premieres on 12th April 2022.

Yanick plays Dane, Paula’s husband. He shares more about the preparation for his role. “I thoroughly enjoy learning new skills. Whether it be training the body or the mind… Which is why I became an actor. For Hullraisers, I had to learn the very specific Hull accent which I studied so much I would mutter northern phrases in my sleep,” he describes.

A graduate of East 15’s acting school, Ghanty hails from Indian and African heritage. The thespian has worked in some of the more prestigious theatres across the UK. He is also a fitness enthusiast. Two world premieres at the Belgrade Theatre marked a major turning point. This was followed by a National tour of the Largest British-Asian show, Bring on the Bollywood by Samir Bhamra.

Over the years, he participates in global campaigns with major brands like Hellman’s. Ghanty frequently collaborates with the UK Asian Film Festival and champions the Mental Health Awareness movement.
