Sony Pictures India and Sabbir Khan Launch Nikamma Trailer

Heropanti director Sabbir Khan returns with another Bollywood action potboiler, Nikamma. Backed by Sony Pictures India, it is based on Telugu hit Middle Class Abbayi. Abhimanyu Dassani plays Adi, the eponymous ‘nikamma’ (good-for-nothing). He is a slacker. He meets a woman (Shirley Setia), who instantly falls in love with him. Shilpa Shetty plays Avni, compelling him to change his way. As she gets him to do all household chores, he calls her the most ‘gorgeous villain who is a mix of ‘Thunder Woman and Manjulika’. Soon, a hitman (Abhimanyu Singh) threatens the superhero. We then see the lazy chap transforming into a protective hero. The famous Hindi song ‘Nikama Kiya’ from Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa is reinvented in this picture. The movie releases on June 17, 2022.

Madhuri Dixit Unveils Second Single, Tu Hai Mera

Bollywood megastar releases her second single, Tu Hai Mera. The song pays homage to all her fans, from reading traditional fan letters to connecting with them on social media. The track is written by Dixit in collaboration with musician Raja Kumari, while the actor has bankrolled it alongside her husband Shriram Nene. Dixit recently made her digital debut in the Netflix series The Fame Game. She will next be seen in Amazon Prime Video’s Maja Maa. 

Country Of Blind Gets World Premiere At DESIblitz Film Fusion’s Opening Night

The Rahat Kazmi directorial Country Of Blind opens the first-ever DESIblitz Film Fusion festival which kicks off on June 3, 2022, in Birmingham. Abhimanyu, an expert mountain climber falls into a strange and isolated society of “non-seeing” people. Claimed to have been in existence for fifteen generations and cut off from the rest of the world. Abhimanyu decides quickly that “in the country of the blind, the one-eyed man is king”. He fails in his efforts and gets trapped instead. It is adapted from the 1904 story of H. G. Wells of the same name. Popular Indian actor Hina Khan stars in the picture. The fest displays various new content. It exhibits a collection of Punjabi, Pakistani, UK/World and Sports Films. These will be in various formats shorts, features and documentaries. Classics like Jinnah and East Is East will also be shown. The event closes with the Anushka Sen starrer Am I Next, which is also helmed by Kazmi, on June 12, 2022.
