Indian Talents Appointed For Membership At The Academy

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to join the organisation to 397 artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures. Indian names include Jai Bhim actor Suriya, K3G’s Kajol, Chhello Show director Pan Nalin, exec Aditya Sood, Amazon Studios’ Sohini Sengupta, Vivek Mathur and Gully Boy’s Zoya Akhtar, Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh. Membership selection is based on professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion and equity remaining a priority. There are 71 Oscar® nominees, including 15 winners, among the invitees. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy’s membership in 2022. Last year, Vidya Balan and Ekta Kapoor were also invited.

Roy Kapur Films Announce News Slate Of Content

Roy Kapur Films (RKF) announces 8 new shows with 8 talented directors, post-Sony LIV success of Rocket Boys and Netflix’s Aranyak. Shershaah director Vishnuvardhan makes his series directorial with an action drama based on an integral part of India’s 20th-century military history. Malik’s Mahesh Narayanan helms a multi-season spy thriller set in the Middle East and South Asia. Hardik Mehta (Kaamyaab) will make a family drama show based in Europe, Africa and India. It is based on the rarefied and exclusive world of warring business families. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na’s Abbas Tyrewala is set to show-run a spy action series depicted on counter-intelligence. Nagraj Manjule (Sairat) is roped in for Matka King, which is based on the gambling game, ‘Matka’. Cargo’s Arati Kadav is set to call the shots for a romance Sci-Fi series. The line-up also sees popular ad filmmaker Bhavesh Kapadia make his directorial debut in a female-led comic/thriller series. The slate is in development and production for 2022/23. Later this year, RKF will also release feature films Pippa, Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan? and Bas Karo Aunty!
