Abhishek Bachchan Makes Digital Debut with Breathe: Into The Shadows

Abhishek Bachchan celebrates 20 years in the industry this year. He is now set to make his mark on the digital space with Amazon Prime Video’s Breathe: Into The Shadows.

Sharing a few words over this new venture and completing years in the industry, he tells Filme Shilmy:

“I’m not going to complain. 20-years is a blessing, a privilege.

Not many actors get the opportunity to be allowed by the audience to work so long and make so many movies or the opportunity to entertain them.

I feel a lot of love and gratitude towards the audience. I’m just happy I get to wake up every day and live my dream. So I cannot complain!”

The Amazon Original Series follows the journey of Dr Avinash Sabharwal (Abhishek Bachchan), as he and his wife delve into the case of their kidnapped daughter, Siya.

In the pursuit for justice, senior inspector Kabir Sawant (Amit Sadh) takes the lead of the case, amidst the hostile environment of the Delhi Crime Branch.

Obstacles face the investigation at every turn, and as the couple get closer to the truth, the kidnapper’s unusual demands place them in a series of grievous situations.

Given the fact that AB himself is a father and a family man, how (if at all) did that help him with his role in the series?

“Regardless, we are actors and get paid to act to the best of our ability.

But yes, I have to admit that being a father in real life to a beautiful 8-year-old does give you a certain label of understanding a bond in reality.

You don’t need to ‘create’ it. It naturally happens,” he explains to us.

The series also seems to play on the aspect of fear as well as compassion for loved ones. So what is his greatest fear? Abhishek explains:

“Any family person would tell you that their greatest fear is losing their family. The greatest desire is their health and wellbeing of close ones.

I’m no different. The one thing I connected with immediately about the show was “how long would you go for your family?” and that is something which tests you.

To see how that test transpires is a very interesting dynamic.”

Over these years, Bachchan has witnessed it all, from success to failure as well as different phases in life and career.

What has been the biggest learning(s) for him to date?

“Innumerate. But I think some of the larger themes that one has learnt is to believe in oneself, dream and to work relentlessly till you achieve it.

Nothing is going to come easy and one has to pay their dues. Treat successful and failure in the same way.

Carry on because tomorrow is a different day and you have to prove yourself all over again.”

The series is created and produced by Abundantia Entertainment and created and directed by Mayank Sharma.

The show has been deftly written by Bhavani Iyer, Vikram Tuli, Arshad Syed and Mayank Sharma.

It streams on Amazon Prime Video on 10th July 2020.
