Comedian Vir Das to Undertake a Negative Role in Nikkhil Advani’s Series

Actor-comedian-writer Vir Das’ next project is a Hindi series in collaboration with filmmaker Nikkhil Advani titled Hasmukh.

This would be the first time the multi-talented actor will be associated with a script that is dark, intense and a territory he has never delved into it.

Other than writing the script in Hindi for the first time, he will be seen playing the titular role. It was challenging for Vir to play Hasmukh.

The character is intense, has reservations and stays away from public appearances. To get into the skin of the character, Vir went into isolation.

“I had co-written the series and I knew this role is unlike any other I have done. It’s dark, twisted, something people don’t expect of me.

And thus once I got into the character, I preferred to stay in it and I felt any distraction wouldn’t allow me the chance to stay true. So I preferred being by myself to stay focused,” said Vir.

The show also stars Ranvir Shorey, who plays a character named Jimmy.

Applause Entertainment, the content studio from the Aditya Birla Group, is backing the project along with Advani’s Emmay Entertainment.

Meanwhile, Vir Das’ latest comedy series Losing It is now available to stream on Netflix.
